Do you have big plans for the future? Then God has a word for you.. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Do you think Jesus said 'Happy New Year!' while he lived as a man with us? Jesus only lived for 33 years on earth, and at the beginning of each new year he must have been reminded that he was one year closer to the pain and sadness of the cross. Yet the Bible says, "because his heart was focused on the JOY of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation." Heb 12:2 TPT Imagine that! Only someone who loved us like Jesus did could be HAPPY while looking forward to the cross! He was happy because he knew that the cross would free you and me from the obligation to serve sin and death. He was happy because his sacrifice liberated us forever from the guilt and condemnation of sins. He was happy because finally, you and I can be friends with God, and have peace in our hearts. Because of you, Jesus would have said "Happy New Year!" while looking forward to the cross. And because of Jesus, you can declare "Happy New Year!" and mean every word that you say! How would you like to soar upward effortlessly like an eagle? Or run onward tirelessly like a winning runner? God is the One who gives supernatural power, even when powerful people on earth make you feel small and weak. See what the Bible says: It is God Who sits on the throne above the earth. The people living on the earth are like grasshoppers. He spreads out the heavens like a curtain. He spreads them out like a tent to live in. It is He Who brings rulers down to nothing. He makes the judges of the earth as nothing. They have just been planted, and have begun to take root in the earth. But He only blows on them and they dry up, and the storm carries them away like dry grass. “To whom will you compare Me, that I should be like him?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes and see. Who has made these stars? It is the One Who leads them out by number. He calls them all by name. Because of the greatness of His strength, and because He is strong in power, not one of them is missing. Have you not known? Have you not heard? The God Who lives forever is the Lord, the One Who made the ends of the earth. He will not become weak or tired. His understanding is too great for us to begin to know. He gives strength to the weak. And He gives power to him who has little strength. Even very young men get tired and become weak and strong young men trip and fall. But they who wait upon the Lord will get new strength. Here's a promise in the Bible which the Lord makes to the least among us "Your sun will no longer go down, nor will your moon disappear. The Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sadness will be over. Then all your people will be righteous, and they will possess the land permanently. They will be the seedling I have planted, the honored work of my hands. The smallest of them will become a family. The weakest of them will become a mighty nation. At the right time I, the Lord, will make it happen quickly.” Isaiah 60:20-22 This is a promise for the smallest and the weakest, for you and for me. Imagine being an honored work of God's hands! "Now we are all here before God to hear everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us." Peter began to speak: “I really understand now that to God every person is the same. Jesus is the Lord of all people! You know about Jesus from Nazareth, that God gave him the Holy Spirit and power. You know how Jesus went everywhere doing good and healing those who were ruled by the devil, because God was with him. We saw what Jesus did in Judea and in Jerusalem, but the Jews in Jerusalem killed him by hanging him on a cross. Yet, on the third day, God raised Jesus to life and caused him to be seen, not by all the people, but only by the witnesses God had already chosen. And we are those witnesses who ate and drank with him after he was raised from the dead. He told us to preach to the people and to tell them that he is the one whom God chose to be the judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets say it is true that all who believe in Jesus will be forgiven of their sins through Jesus’ name.” While Peter was still saying this, the Holy Spirit came down on all those who were listening. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been given even to the nations. These believers heard them speaking in different languages and praising God. Would you like to receive a gift from Jesus himself? “O my people, listen as I speak. I do not need the bulls from your barns or the goats from your pens. "For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine. "Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. "Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. Do you have overwhelming odds stacked against you today? One Overcomer is all God needs, because the Lord can save, by many or by few! In the Bible, God's people were under attack by 30,000 chariots and 6,000 horsemen, plus so many soldiers they were like the sand on the seashore. The people became so distressed and fearful that they hid in caves, among bushes, behind rocks and even in deep pits! Many fled across the Jordan river, until their king was left with only 600 people. Imagine how they must have felt! But Jonathan, the king's son, said to his armourbearer, “Come, let us go over to meet the enemy, it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” Nothing restrains the Lord from saving! How many did God need to face this mighty enemy? Just One Overcomer, and his faithful servant! It's not how strong you are - for how can even the most powerful person ever conquer such a mighty army? No, all God needs is One Overcomer who will believe in him, and who will dream of the impossible, even before facing the enemy! So Jonathan told his servant, "Let us cross over to our opponents and show ourselves. If they say they'll come down to us, then we'll wait. But if they call for us to climb up to them, then we'll go up - for that's the sign that the Lord has delivered them into our hand!" Without hesitation, Jonathan set off and the enemies mockingly challenged him to come up to face them. That was God's confirmation that he would give them victory. So the two men climbed up on hands and feet, and with just two men the Lord defeated the entire army! Dear friend, perhaps you're facing an enemy so large that it's impossible to even think of victory. But remember, nothing restrains the Lord from saving - by many or by few!
