Let me tell you bout my Jesus... A couple years back, the Lord very clearly spoke to both the hearts of me and my husband separately about the very same subject. He made it clear to us that nothing about Halloween glorifies His name and if we are seeking to be like Him, it's not something we should participate in. Now, let me be clear. This is a personal conviction and I am by no means judging or thinking ill of others for making different choices surrounding Halloween. We are simply following the path the Lord has made clear to us. I hope you can understand this and grant us the same respect if you feel differently than we do. This is our first year fully following in obedience and not participating in any activities whether secular, church or even school themed for Halloween. As you can imagine, this was a bit of a transition for our older children who have participated in Halloween activities up until this time. They understand and even agree that it's best for us not to participate, but that doesn't make it easy for them when it feels like they are the only ones in the world opting out. Don't worry, our kids have costumes they play in at home and get to eat candy frequently. They aren't missing out. But they certainly could have felt like it as school today, as it was wear your costume to school day. But God.... In His ever faithful provision had better plans. You see, our twins told their teacher they weren't going to be dressing up today. They are very proud of their decision and just wanted to give their teacher a heads up. The amazing woman that teaches them happens to be a Christian as well and was so respectful of our decision. She reached out to me last night and asked if it was okay if she did a little something special for them today to make them feel included. I told her that I adore the fall season and have no problem with anything autumn themed. After all, God gave us the beautiful changing seasons to enjoy. YOU GUYS! I cannot adequately explain how my heart swelled when my girls came home from school grinning from ear to ear and telling me how incredible their day was due to the loving-kindness of their teacher. She handmade them the beautiful fall headpieces you see them wearing in the picture below. And not only that, she took her son to the store with her when getting the supplies, explaining what she was doing and why. Her sweet boy followed in her wonderful example and asked if they could get the twins the adorable little animals you see them holding here. What a beautiful thing to model for your child and to let them participate in. Of course, I could just view this as the incredible generosity of our girl's amazing teacher. And it was incredible, no doubt. But the Holy Spirit has given me eyes to see past the obvious and I know this was God at work. Today could have been really crummy for our kids. But we serve a loving Father who rewards obedience. And today He gave us a really wonderful gift. I will always be grateful to the girl's amazing teacher for this beautiful act of kindness. But what's more, I am forever grateful to my Lord who orchestrated this wonderful day! Thank you God!! "The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.
