Deers don't just run for water when they are thirsty, they also run for water when they are injured. What about us? Where or who do we go to? When we are longing and thirsty deep inside us, we can run to the Living Water in Jesus who never runs dry (John 4:10). When we are going through difficult times and are weary, overwhelmed, and worn out, we can run to Jesus for refreshing. Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11:28-30 still is true in our time today. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” And when you feel you are lost and stuck in your situation right now, let the Good Shepherd lead you "beside quiet waters", "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:1-3 NIV) The Lord’s path is where He wants you too take. Let Him lead and redirect you back to where He wants you to be. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake. Psalm 23:1-3 NIV All of Psalm 23 is so encouraging. For it is about Jesus being our True Shepherd and we are His flock and we follow Him. For, with Jesus in our hearts and lives Him being our LORD, we will lack nothing. John 10:1 to 5, John 10:7 to 16, (Do read) DO, WE TRUST JESUS as He leads our lives? We may go through hard times, but His path is straight and narrow which leads to Eternal Life. Matthew 7:.13 &14 He gives us His living water of the Holy Spirit. That we will never thirst. Do you know what you should be going after in life - to fulfill God’s purpose for you. You were not designed to pursue success and blessings. Instead you were created to follow God and seek to fulfill His will. Psalm 23:1-3 & 6 says that if you follow the Lord your Good Shepherd, He will lead you to good things. God’s mercy and goodness will follow you all throughout your life if you go after Him. This is how you find real success and blessings. You do not try to acquire them but instead you let go of everything and give yourself entirely to God’s purpose for you. Jesus said Matthew 10:39 that if you try to keep your life on your own, you will lose it but if you surrender it to God and for His plan, then you will have it. That means, if your first concern is to look after yourself, you’ll never find yourself and the Lord. Trying to pursue stuff and striving to make a name for yourself will just leave you empty. This is how the world operates. Many just try to get things to make themselves happy. In Isaiah 53L4-6 you can read there about Jesus carrying the punishment, sorrow, sickness and pains caused by people who went their own way. Humanity had all these troubles because they were like sheep who went astray because they did not follow their shepherd and just went on their own. Pursuing your own instead of God’s plan will never give you a real blessed life. Claiming God’s blessing without following His will is a wrong and unbiblical way of thinking. Sadly this even infected believers. You can see people use God’s promises to satisfy their covetousness and lust for different things. The Word of God will not work if you just use it to fulfill your own made dreams and disregard God’s call on your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says that God’s plan for you is good and He desires for you to have success and a hope filled future. However this won’t happen if you will not follow His plan and just pursue your own dreams and ambition. Matthew 6:24 you can not serve two masters. That means you need to either choose whether you will live for yourself or you will live for Jesus. The blessings of the Lord are on His plan and they will follow you if you choose to follow and serve Him. Job 36:11 says that if you obey God and serve Him you will have pleasant days and you will spend your years in abundance and contentment. It is also the will of the Lord that you always have everything you need so that you can do whatever He calls you to do according to 2 Corinthians 8:9 This is why God makes all grace, every favor and earthly blessing come to you in abundance. It is for you to be able to fulfill His purpose for your life and share His goodness to others. Now the choice is yours, will you waste your life chasing after blessing and success or will you seek and follow the Lord and let success and his blessings go after you and even overtake you. Make a decision today to seek God and pursue His purpose for your life. Stop trying to go after stuff and striving to make a name for yourself. Instead ask God what He wants you to do. Pray and spend time on the Word so that you will know what God’s will for you. Obey whatever instructions and directions the Lord gives you. Live for Jesus your Lord and not for yourself. Follow God’s plan instead of using scriptures to try to make your own-made ambition work. Let the Lord show you what He has called you to do and always follow the lead of the Holy Spirit so that you can walk in the pre-ordained path that God has for you. If you do these, you won’t need to go after blessings anymore because they will follow and overtake you instead. You will be able to fulfill God’s purpose for your life and will be rewarded by Him because you were faithful in serving His plan. If you pursue God and fulfill His purpose for your life, then blessing and success will follow you and even overtake you. Are you following God’s plan instead of your own? Are you pursuing the Lord and His purpose instead of your own ambition and goals? Have you asked God what He wants you to do? - Are you obeying what He said? What specific scriptures do you believe regarding obeying the Lord? The first step to follow God is by surrendering your life completely to Christ.
