Ok all you faithful prayer warriors . In one week Sean will have his first scan. The MRI of his spine is scheduled for Thursday evening, 2/23. We are praying that the doctors are surprised - that God does the unexpected in “their eyes”. We know in our eyes God can do it - so we will expect the unexpected . Let’s pray for remission - for dead tumors! Monday 2/27 he will have a full PET scan done. Prayers for that to show no evidence of disease as well!!! We know our God is able!! Sean had day 2 of his most recent cycle Friday. Day 2 of the cycle adds another chemo to the regimen and it usually causes his platelets to drop. As expected they did just that. Today he had a transfusion (the second one of the week). Earlier in the week he was feeling pretty tired and his legs bothered him, but that’s part of the recovery process for him. Thankfully we can tell he’s on the upswing as today his legs aren’t restless and in pain We opted to take part in a study that checks the bones of cancer patients who have been on chemo for a while. Part of that study was checking vitamin D levels. No surprise Sean’s came back low. We live in Ohio so most people, especially in the winter, have low vitamin D levels, then add chemo on top of that - it’s not surprising his came back the way it did. This past Monday he started taking a vitamin D supplement - 1,250 mcgs to be exact. I think back over the years and how his energy levels most weeks is amazing. I can’t wait to see how it increases even more with the extra vitamin D in him!! We hope you all had a great week! Thank you again for being with us on this journey. Frustrated. Angry. Wednesday Sean had an MRI and a CT Sims completed in order to prepare his radiation plan. Unfortunately, the MRI found some new spots on his spine. It also shows that the one he had left from Houston has grown. As of right now, Sean will stay on the same chemo regimen he was on prior to Houston as it appeared to have been shrinking and killing some of the tumors he had prior to going down. Yesterday he received his second dose. He has been “stickered” up for radiation and that will start Jan 4th. Sean’s scans have been sent to Houston for their opinion. I’m praying his Dr there will have some insight for us. As I’ve been processing the past few days I’ve found myself angry. Sad. Frustrated. What’s Sean been doing? Smiling, being goofy, gaming, blaring Christmas music from his room, hanging with friends…living life. Teaching me. Huge prayer requests. - pray that his radiation can start sooner than Jan 4th. - pray that this chemo KILLS the cancer cells in these tumors. Pray they disappear. We know our God is able to do big things - like performing miracles by making these tumors vanish. - pray that Houston is able to offer some insight about what to do next. His doctor here mentioned looking into other trials. Pray for a clear path. - pray the side effects Sean experiences with this chemo stay away. Thank you all for your love, support and prayers.
