Jesus is speaking to you from the Bible. Will you believe what he says? "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this? “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. “Believe in God; believe also in me. "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." Dear friend, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. To all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent. Would you like to pray with us? Mathew 7 – Lesson HEAVEN All of us want to go to Heaven when we die. But how many of us know what we need to do to get there? In today’s lesson, we will highlight five things that we need to do to be saved. Before we do that, we will see what the Bible has to say relative to the number of people that are going to Hell compared to the number of people that are going to Heaven. MANY MORE WILL PERISH THEN WILL BE SAVED During His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said: • “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” – Mathew 7:13-14. Luke records similar words spoken by Jesus in his Gospel: • “Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many, I tell seek to enter and will not be able. Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from.’ Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets’; and He will say, “I tell you, I do not know where you are from; depart from Me, all you evildoers.’ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” – Luke 13:24-28. These scriptures serve as a warning for us to get right with God before it is too late! If we want to spend eternity in Heaven, there are things that we need to do! WHAT MUST WE DO TO BE SAVED? The first thing that we need to do to be saved is read the Bible! Jesus said: • “If you love Me, you will keep my commandments.” – John 14:15. Of course, we cannot keep God’s commandments if we do not know what they are! Therefore, our efforts to go to heaven must begin with a solid understanding of the Bible. Once we understand God’s word, the next thing that we need to do is act! Being a Christian is an active life, not a passive one. FIVE MATTERS OF SALVATION Listed below are five things that the Bible teaches we must do to be saved and go to Heaven: 1. Believe in Jesus. “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” – Acts 16:31, 2. Confess our belief in Him. “For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” – Romans 10:10, 3. Repent (turn away from) of our sins. “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” – Luke 13:3, 4. Be baptized. “Baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ .” – 1 Peter 3:21 and “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” – Mark 16:16, 5. Obey God’s commandments. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in Heaven will enter.” – Mathew 7:21. GOD WANTS EVERYONE TO BE SAVED! Remember that God loves us and is rooting for us to take the necessary steps toward salvation. That is why He sent Jesus to save us from our sins! Consider the following two scriptures: 1. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” – John 3:16, 2. “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” - 2 Peter 3:9. BIBLE VERSES ABOUT HEAVEN As you read the following three verses about Heaven, it is ok to get excited about the prospect of spending eternity in Heaven. It is this excitement that gives us hope and allows us to persevere during times of adversity. 1. “He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” - Revelation 21:4, 2. “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” - John 14:2, 3. “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him.” - 1 Corinthians 2:9. CONCLUSION Heaven is a place more beautiful than any of us can imagine! And unlike earth, there are no tears, no pain, and no death in Heaven. In fact, the Bible teaches us that we cannot begin to comprehend the majesty of Heaven! It is far more beautiful than anything we have seen before, and something that we will need to see to believe! ( 1 Corinthians 2:9 ) Being hopeful about Heaven allows us to persevere through adversity and motivates us to stay on the straight and narrow path that leads to Heaven. We will end today’s lesson with the following two scriptures about Heaven: 1. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” – Romans 8:18, 2. “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” – John 14:1-3.

Romans 10 – Lesson SAVED BY FAITH If you are ready to tackle the big questions about faith and salvation, then Romans Chapter 10 is for you! In this chapter, Paul writes about salvation and how it is obtained. He also tells us how to increase our faith, which is important because, without faith, there is no salvation (Romans 10:10). Before moving on to Romans Chapter 10, we will quickly look back on Chapter 9. In this chapter, Paul wrote: • “But Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works.” – Romans 9:31-32. This scripture drives home the point that it is by faith, and not works, that we are saved. CONFESSING JESUS AS LORD AND SAVIOR Having faith in Jesus is the most important thing we need to have relative to our salvation. Everything starts and ends with the atoning blood of our Savior! In total there are five matters of salvation that are discussed in the Bible: 1. “ Baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ .” – 1 Peter 3:21 and “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” – Mark 16:16, 5. Obey God’s commandments. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.” – Mathew 7:21. CONFESSING JESUS AS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR In Romans Chapter 10, Paul talks about the importance of confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior, and how that confession is necessary for salvation: • “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” – Romans 10:9-10. As disciples of Jesus, we are never to be ashamed of the Gospel. Confessing Jesus as our Lord and Savior shows our faith outwardly, while the belief in our heart shows our faith inwardly. WHAT ABOUT WORKS? As Christians, we must let go of the concept that we can gain salvation through our own works, and instead accept the precious gift of Jesus! As humans, it is hard to fathom how a gift so valuable could be so freely given to the entire world! That speaks to the amazing grace that we have through God the Father, and God the Son. And while we are not saved by our works, there is important work that we are commanded to do! Consider the following three scriptures: 1. “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.” – James 1:22, 2. “Faith without works is dead,” - James 2:26, 3. “But someone may well say, ‘You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.’” - James 2:18. FAITH Faith plays a critical role in our salvation. As we said in the introduction to today’s lesson: 1. Having faith in Jesus is the most important thing we need to have relative to our salvation, 2. Everything starts and ends with the atoning blood of our Savior! Because faith plays such a critical role in our salvation, it is imperative that we understand faith. As always, our source for better understanding is the Bible. Consider the following five scriptures about faith: 1. “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” - Hebrews 11:6, 2. “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” - Hebrews 11:1, 3. “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” - Ephesians 2:8-9, 4. “Nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.” - Galatians 2:16, 5. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” - 2 Corinthians 5:7. HOW TO OBTAIN FAITH Is faith something that we are born with, or is it something we acquire? The answer is found in the following scripture: • “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17. Reading the Bible increases our faith. The more we read it, the stronger our faith becomes! Look at the example of Jesus. Jesus would often go to a quiet place to pray to His Father and to study the scriptures. If Jesus believed this was important, so should we! , CONCLUSION It is our faith in Jesus that saves us, not the works that we do. Our faith, however, is useless unless it compels us to act! We can increase our faith through regular Bible study, but that is just the beginning. As our faith increases, we must apply what we have learned. Otherwise, as James wrote, our faith is dead and alone. We will end today’s lesson with the following scripture that highlights that point: • “What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.” – James 2:14-17.

Romans 3 – Lesson EVERYONE IS A SINNER Romans Chapter 3 makes it clear that EVERYONE is a sinner! There is only One that has ever walked the earth perfectly, our Savior, Jesus Christ. The rest of us are sinners, as the Bible makes clear in the following three verses: 1. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” - Romans 3:23, 2. “There is none righteous, not even one.” - Romans 3:10, 3. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” - Romans 5:8. And because we are sinners, we need God’s grace if we are going to go to Heaven. WE NEED GOD’S GRACE The Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans: • “There is none righteous, not even one; there is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God; all have turned aside, together they have become useless; there is none who does good, there is not even one. Their throat is an open grave, with their tongues they keep deceiving, the poison of asps is under their lips; whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood, destruction and misery are in their paths, and the path of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes.” – Romans 3:10-18. In the above scripture (taken from Psalms 14:1-3, Psalms 10:7, Psalms 36:1, Psalms 53:1-4, Isaiah 59:7, and Isaiah 59:9), Paul makes it clear that all of us are sinners (both Jews and Gentiles). Therefore, we all need God’s grace to be saved. It is as simple as that: 1. We are all sinners, 2. Therefore, we all need God’s grace to be saved. GRACE DEFINED Grace means, “Unmerited favor.” Or to put it in lay terms, receiving something that we have not earned. As we learn God’s commandments, He wants us to make a sincere effort to obey them. He also understands that we are human and will make mistakes and fall short from time to time. That is where the redeeming blood of Jesus and God’s unsurpassed grace can save us from our sins. BIBLE VERSES ABOUT GRACE The Bible has a lot to say about grace. For today’s lesson, we have highlighted the following four verses: 1. “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” -Hebrews 4:16, 2. “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” - Ephesians 2:8-9, 3. “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” - James 4:6, 4. “And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9. WORKS CAN NOT SAVE US We cannot make it to Heaven based on our own works! While there is no denying the importance of our works to accompany our faith (James 2:26), there are no amount of works that can save anyone without the grace of God. FIVE MATTERS OF SALVATION Different denominations have differing opinions about what is necessary to go to Heaven. In the end, the only thing that matters is what God says on the subject. For today’s lesson, we are going to look at five things the Bible teaches us that are necessary for salvation along with the corresponding scriptures. 1. When we obey the Gospel and commit to following Jesus, God’s grace saves us! CONCLUSION God's grace is a gift that we cannot earn. God gives grace to the humble and is opposed to the proud. We are saved by grace through faith, and there is work to be done! If we want to go to Heaven, we need to be obedient to the following five matters of salvation: 1. Believe in Jesus. ( Acts 16:31 ) 2. Confess our belief in Him. ( Romans 10:10 ) 3. Repent (turn away from) of our sins. ( Luke 13:3 ) 4. Be baptized. ( 1 Peter 3:21 and Mark 16:16 ) 5. Obey God’s commandments. ( Mathew 7:21 ) We will end today's lesson with the following scripture: • “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age.” - Titus 2:11.

Revelation 6 - Lesson BACKGROUND Earlier in Revelation, we saw God sitting on a throne surrounded by four creatures, and twenty-four elders on thrones. There was a book that was sealed by seven seals, and only Jesus was found worthy to open it. THE FIRST SIX SEALS EXPLAINED In Revelation Chapter 6, Jesus opens that book by breaking the first six seals. The seventh seal is revealed in Revelation Chapter 7. There is some debate over what the opening of each seal symbolizes. Most agree that in the final days, there will be an epic battle between good and evil. Rulers in that time will commit horrible, sinful acts until Jesus defeats them. Most believe that the book held by God contains the complete history of the world; all things that ever were, and all things that ever will be. Since the Bible does not say, it is impossible for us to know for sure. What we do know, is that the opening of each seal triggered different events, and God wanted these events to be recorded for future generations to read. Listed below is a summary of the first six seals that were opened and what God wants us to know about them: 1. A rider on a white horse. Many scholars believe this to be an evil dictator that will rule over the earth in the final days, 2. The second seal deals with war. For this seal, we see a rider on a red horse who was, “Granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.” This is God asserting that He has the right to take peace from the earth as He sees the need to do so. Mankind has always found reasons to go to war with one another. Sadly, this will continue until the end of days, 3. The third seal mentions a black horse and that its rider had two scales. John writes that he heard a voice coming from the area of the four creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine.” This seal is talking about a great famine overtaking the earth, one where a loaf of bread costs a day’s wages, 4. The lamb (Jesus) breaks the fourth seal. This time John sees an ashen (pale) horse. The person sitting on this horse had the name, “Death.” John writes that Hades was following him and that, “Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.” The fourth seal of the book has to do with death and hell (Hades), 5. In the fifth seal, instead of a horse, John sees underneath the altar, “The souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained.” They are held in reverence and John writes that they were each given a white robe. This is symbolic of their favorable position with God. God knows who will be martyred and when. Martyrs will be remembered and given special honor by God for their sacrifice, 6. As Jesus breaks the sixth seal, John gets a look at the things that will take place on the “Day of wrath,” which is talking about judgment day. John writes, “I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” PREPARING FOR THE DAY OF JUDGMENT The words in Revelation Chapter 6 are a prophecy. They tell us about things that are going to take place in the future. This chapter of the Bible is talking about the end of days. None of us know when that will be, so we need to make sure we have done everything we can to prepare ourselves for that day. • “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” – Mathew 24:36. Our salvation is not to be taken lightly, because it is forever. The Bible tells us that each of us is going to be judged and sent to either Heaven or Hell forever. Forever! Nothing is more important than where we are going to spend eternity. And we have a say in that. The Bible is simple in concept. God tells us what to do, and we do it. It is the human side of us that complicates things sometimes. And when it comes to our salvation, there are five things that the Bible tells us must be done if we are going to be sent to Heaven. FIVE MATTERS OF SALVATION 1. “Baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” – 1 Peter 3:21 and “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” – Mark 16:16, 5. Obey God’s commandments. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.” – Mathew 7:21. CONCLUSION We will end today’s lesson with words written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy. They are the same words that we hope to be able to say ourselves at the end of our lives. And with God’s help, we can! (Philippians 4:13) • “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8.

Revelation 22 – Lesson In the final book of the New Testament, God reveals His plan (through an angel) for John to share with the world. Through John’s writing, we get a preview of what Heaven will be like for those who are saved. HEAVEN As you read the following four verses about Heaven, allow yourself to get excited about what it will mean to spend eternity with God, Jesus, and all the saints! “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him.” -1 Corinthians 2:9, 4. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” – Romans 8:18. THE GREAT TRIBULATION The Book of Revelation also provides a dark picture of what the last days on earth will be like for those who choose not to follow Jesus and instead follow the sinful ways of the world. These days are referred to as, “The Great Tribulation.” The word tribulation is defined as, “A state of great trouble or suffering.” (Source: Google dictionary) During the Great Tribulation, those on earth will experience catastrophic events, the likes of which the earth has never seen! According to Revelation 8:5, these events will include: • A huge fireball hurled to the earth, • Thunder, • Lightning, • Earthquakes. The Bible tells us that there will be seven angels standing before God who will sound their trumpets one at a time. As each one sounds off, those on earth will be subjected to tremendous suffering! There will be a prolonged battle between good and evil where good prevails. In Revelation Chapter 21, we read the following words of encouragement about what life will be like after The Great Tribulation when Jesus returns: • Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” – Revelation 21:1-4. CONCLUSION The Book of Revelation highlights the dramatic differences between Heaven and Hell. Those who are saved will be with God and Jesus forever in paradise! Those who are condemned will experience the horrors of Hell for all eternity! This needs to be a wake-up call for all of us to make sure that we are right with God before it is too late! In order to do this, each of us must evaluate ourselves against these five matters of salvation outlined in the Bible: 1. If we do these five things, we will be saved. We will end today’s study with the following quote from the Apostle Paul. These are the same days that we hope to be able to say when our time on earth is done: • “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8.

2 Timothy 2 – Lesson EMBRACING THE NEW AND LETTING GO OF THE OLD Our focus verse for today’s lesson comes from the Apostle Paul’s second letter to Timothy: • “Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace.” – 2 Timothy 2:22. This verse reminds us that once we decide to follow Jesus, our lives are supposed to be different, and we are to “Walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4) This means embracing new things and letting go of old ones. GIVING UP OLD HABITS Christians are called to do two things while on earth: 1. Glorify God, 2. Serve others. These are selfless actions, and that is the point! As we shift our focus away from ourselves and onto God and others, our day-to-day lives will change and become more meaningful. It will soon become apparent that there are activities that we used to partake in that we will need to stop doing. Why? Because we now know better! Paul often wrote about the changes that take place over the course of a Christian’s life. Consider the following three scriptures: 1. “When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.” – 1 Corinthians 13:11, 2. “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.” - Romans 6:4, 3. “In reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds.” – Ephesians 4:22-23. Change is an important part of being a Christian. In fact, it is important enough that Paul wrote about it in three separate letters, to three separate cities. In these letters, Paul emphasizes the importance of: 1. Putting away childish things (Paul’s letter to Corinth), 2. Walking in newness of life (Paul’s letter to the Romans), 3. Getting rid of the old self (Paul’s letter to the Ephesians). NEW PRIORITIES Believing in Jesus is not just a life-changing thing, is a soul-changing thing! Listed below are five matters of salvation, supported by scripture. They are all important and are there in writing for all to see. Everything starts, however, with belief in Jesus! 1. LEARNING ABOUT GOD AND HIS COMMANDMENTS Once we make the decision to follow Jesus, there is a lot of work to be done! As we turn our focus away from ourselves and towards God and others, we need to make sure that we are feeding our hearts, minds, and souls with the Word of God. Christians need to make studying the Bible part of their everyday routine. And then we need to act on what we have learned. Jesus said: • “If you love Me, keep my commandments.” – John 14:15. Of course, to obey His commands, we must first learn what those commandments are, and the only way to do that is by studying the Bible. That is exactly what Paul encouraged Timothy to do in the following verse: • “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15. Ask yourself, “How can I accurately handle the word of truth, if I do not know what it says?” CONCLUSION When we follow Jesus, the Bible says that our lives will be transformed! Instead of living to satisfy our own sinful lusts and desires, we will live to serve God and to love our neighbor. Paul wrote about this transformation in the following verse: • “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2. When we commit to following Jesus, we put away our own playbook and agree to follow God’s The Prophet Jeremiah wrote: • “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11. If we are wise, we will follow God’s plan for us to the best of our ability. When we do this, God will allow us to accomplish things we never thought possible. We will wake up each day with a new sense of purpose and fulfillment. This is what it means to walk in newness of life! (Romans 6:4) We will end today’s lesson where we began, with the following excerpt from Paul’s second letter to Timothy: • “Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” – 2 Timothy 2:22.
