Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? - Psalm 27:1 KJV Fear is like a seed that takes root in our heart. It is a shadow that obscures our path. We fear the unknown, the uncertain, the inevitable. The psalmist reminds us that in times of fear and uncertainty, we must look to the Lord—for He is our source of light and salvation. No matter what we may face in this life, we can trust that God is sovereign. He is our stronghold and that we need not be afraid. As believers, we must cling to the truth of His Word and live in obedience to Him, knowing that He works all things for the good of those who love Him. Let's take comfort in the truth of this psalm and the assurance it brings. When fear threatens to overwhelm us, let us choose to trust in the Lord and to rest in His love and care. He will never abandon us or forsake us.
