Do you have big plans for the future? Then God has a word for you.. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. God always has our best intentions in mind. No matter how we meticulously prepare our plans, it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. This does not mean we never plan and dream dreams and aspire for good things in life. God has always wanted for us to live out and experience everything He has long prepared for us in Jesus, such things too wonderful to fully understand. But the Lord also knows how easily we can become distracted or be swayed to things that are not profitable to us but drive us away from Him. He made His Word available to us in our time. And He wants us to think about them always. For in the darkness and uncertainties of the world, “His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.” (Psalm 199:105) Still during the times we stumble, the Lord no longer need to rise from His throne and start making orders concerning us for He has already mobilized His army of angels to minister to our needs long before there is the need. “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.” ‭‭(Psalm‬ ‭91‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬) “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. God always has our best intentions in mind. No matter how we meticulously prepare our plans, it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. This does not mean we never plan and dream dreams and aspire for good things in life. God has always wanted for us to live out and experience everything He has long prepared for us in Jesus, such things too wonderful to fully understand. But the Lord also knows how easily we can become distracted or be swayed to things that are not profitable to us but drive us away from Him. He made His Word available to us in our time. And He wants us to think about them always. For in the darkness and uncertainties of the world, “His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.” (Psalm 199:105) Still during the times we stumble, the Lord no longer need to rise from His throne and start making orders concerning us for He has already mobilized His army of angels to minister to our needs long before there is the need. “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). I love that Jesus doesn’t change. No matter what we’ve done, He doesn’t change His mind about us. He doesn’t change His promises to us. He loves us with an everlasting love. He doesn’t change His plans for us, “plans for good and not evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). God has never failed in the past, and He’s not going to start with you. It may not happen your way or on your timetable, but God is true and faithful to His Word.
