The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. Sorry things went so fast!] As you may have heard, Dirty Jobs is back this Sunday at 8pm, and this season nearly broke me. The network asked me to decide on an official poster for the occasion and gave me six to choose from. I’ve made my decision. Each of them, in my opinion, does a fine job of capturing the pain of a middle-aged man coming face to face with his own mortality. But never mind all that. I’m writing because it occurred to me that true fans of the show might enjoy an autographed keepsake of what will very likely, (but not definitely), be the last season of this delightful, yet never-ending crucible. The writer of Psalm 1 said, “If you will meditate on God’s Word day and night, you will be like a tree planted by the water. Your leaf will not wither, but you will bear fruit in every season without fail.” Notice that it is in every season of our lives. That means even if the economy goes down, you’ll be thriving. When others have fear, you’ll have peace. One Bible translation says that when you meditate on God’s Word, “You’re a tree… always in blossom.” That’s God’s dream for your life—that you’re always in peace and always excited about your future, even when you face adversities.
