For those of you believing God for a miracle in any area of your life, I want to agree with you, in Jesus name. I wholeheartedly believe that God still does miracles today. I literally just felt to jump on here and encourage you to stir up the gift of faith God has deposited in you. What is impossible with man is possible with God. With God all things are possible and nothing is impossible. “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.” (Psalm 77:14) Let me know what you are believing God for and I will add my faith to yours. “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? (Jeremiah 32:27)

Maturing in Christ: “Called to Discipleship”
December 7th, 2022 02:29:20
The other day, I received a call from a young man. It had been a bit since we talked, and our last talk ended in a firmer discussion. As I walked away, I knew his shame and felt the distance that had slipped between us. At that time, there weren’t words or actions that could restore the connection – he wasn’t ready to take the steps necessary to fix what needed to be fixed. Perhaps his pride had gotten in the way or something else, so as we parted, he’d braced himself, and we both felt that wall. So, when he called, I asked to meet. I knew that the request was more than just an ask – he needed to know about the relationship – whether I cared, if he could still come to me, and if I would still meet him where he was. There are times when we are met with difficult situations that in some way cause us to spin or pivot away from God. If we are not careful, circumstances can cause us to think that he does not have our best interest at heart, that he judged us harshly, that his way was the wrong way for us, or that, in some way, he just doesn’t understand. And before we know it, we are on different paths, headed in another direction because of something that has happened that we disagreed with. While in our difficulty, our questions seem founded, just, and reasonable. But when we read God’s response to Job, we comprehend the inadequacy of our reasoning in our suffering. Remember, Job was a righteous man, but when he started questioning God, God responded – directly and in a manner that sends a clear message that he is in control and knows what is going on. God asks Job, “Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.” (Job 38:1-3, KJV).” And here we know that Job did a bad thing. So, we want out of that – that’s not the place to stand. But what are we to do in our suffering and our trial? There are a couple of things that we can do that help. I’m not silly, I know that while we talk about these, we do so outside of the challenge, but if you will hold on to these and apply them, you will make it through much easier. 1. Remember, Every Problem Has an Escape Paul writes, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13, KJV). I love this! Whatever situation you are in, remember there is a way out. You are not doomed to fail, be imprisoned, or become locked in that situation. There is a way through that trail, that dark time, that temptation, that trouble. What I like more is Paul’s following statement - “Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry” (1 Corinthians 10:14, KJV). It’s like Paul wants to remind us that we are not God. Remember Job, “Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?” If we try to figure it out in our understanding, our knowledge, or even the best of man’s wisdom of man, we ultimately lack. But He knows the way that we are to take. He has planned our lives from our inception. He has a purpose for us. He is God, and what he desires most from us is that we would come to him. So, we let it go. A dying man once said, “You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went, you can curse the fates, but when it comes to the end, you have to let it go.” And it’s true. We don’t let it go, as in giving up. We don't give up those people and things we are invested in, but we let them go into the hands of God; we trust him to work it out and bring about solutions; we let go of our patterns and ways of doing. Thus, the hand of God guides us and leads us through problems, hurts, and difficulties. And more, the trials and the problems become places for us to develop in Christ, places where we walk with him, and when we do come to him, he can lead us through that dark wilderness. 2. You Can Rest in Faith Essentially, this is the work of faith. We talk about faith, but often we do so in ways that make it intangible and abstract. Faith is somehow linked to hope and the ghost of a Christmas Christmas Yet To Come – that place where we are judged and hope we have leaned upon him enough that we might be reconciled. But consider again what the writer of Hebrews suggested, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1, KJV). Two areas demonstrate the substance that exists for you to build your faith upon – 1) the power of God and 2) the provision of God. Remember, we are looking for two things: 1) substance: what exists in your life already, and 2) evidence: signs of what is to come. 3. You Can Rest on His Power First, let’s look at the Power of God. Is anything too hard for God? Jeremiah proclaims, “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee” (Jeremiah 32:17, KJV). And he goes on to explain why he thinks so, but we sense that he is whistling in the graveyard. Here he knows destruction is forthcoming, and he’s hoping beyond hope that God’s provision is sure. And God returns the question to him, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me? (Jeremiah 32:27, KJV)” followed by a promise of what he would do, leaving Jeremiah a list of things to check off (evidence) of God’s great strength. The applications now rest on you – what difficulties have you rested on God in times past, and how has he proved himself to you? This is your substance. This is the tangible, grabbable thing you have. Don’t let it go; write that down in a book of remembrance! This is the substance that God has given you to build your faith on. God promised Abraham a child when he talked to Abraham under the tree. Sarah, sitting in the tent, overheard the conversation and laughed. But God replied, “Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” (Genesis 18:14, KJV). I want you to look back at your appointed times. Look over the seasons of life you have gone through and think back to those planting, cultivating, and gathering processes. It will happen yet again. You keep at it – you will sow what you have planted, and you will reap what you put out there, so don’t stop believing, don’t stop trusting, don’t stop praising, and don’t stop worshiping! In your season, you shall reap if you faint not! I want someone to know; I want you to hear it – If you can give it to God, He holds all power in his hand, and you will receive your promise! 4. Your Can Rest on His Provision You know the story, Moses is leading the children of Israel out of Egypt when that hit a dry spot. The scriptures say, “And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink. Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD? And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst? And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? They be almost ready to stone me. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?” (Exodus 17:1-7, KJV) I’m asking you - look back over your life. Look back at the dry places you’ve walked through where he provided water and refreshment for you from the impossible place. Now faith is the substance. Here is your substance. Hold on to it. And look, some of you are sitting in a dry place now, and all you see is dry rocks about you. But these are evidence of his provision. Those places are gonna spring forth with living water - if you will call on him, if you will sit up in your challenge and say, God, it’s not me, it’s not by my power, it’s not by my might, but it’s by your word, it’s by your strength, it’s through your might. And God didn’t just supply water; he gave them bread from heaven. The psalmist wrote, “And had rained down manna upon them to eat and had given them of the corn of heaven” (Psalms 78:24, KJV). Yes, he’s put food on your table, but he’s also blessed you with spiritual food. He filled your gut and your heart. He’s blessed you over and over again. Remember, remember, remember! When I think of the goodness of God, there is something that comes over me. It’s like wells that spring up. He’s done so much for me! But he has not stopped. His blessings are still full and overflowing. And no matter the trouble, no matter the hardship, there is this real substance that begs to be remembered! I’d like to know if we could do just that. If you could pause for just a minute and grab one of those precious memories, roll it over your heart and mind. Allow that to saturate and enrich you. Allow it to encourage you. God is not finished; these are for your growth! And he’s taking you onward into deeper waters! Can you walk with him yet a little while? Can you go a bit further? Can you give him your trial and your hand one more time? Close – I don’t know what you are going through, but I know a God that does. He knows every hair on your head, every freckle. He knows the cause of every wrinkle and crease that marks your face. He knows you intimately. And he’s a God that stands by you. When you go through trouble, he’s ready to raise his banner high over you, proclaim, “this one is mine,” and challenge every devil in hell to face you. But you have to come to him. You can sit back and white-knuckle the situation all day. You can stew and steam, curse and cuss, and fight for your rights till you’re black and blue, sleepless, and your body is wracked with aches and pains, or you can yield to him. And when you do yield – watch him come through for you! Watch that heavenly banner rise. Watch his glory show; watch him begin to work things out on your behalf because he’s a real God that works in real and tangible ways. And he wants to show himself strong on your behalf, but can you give it to him? #faith #faithforward #Jesus #jesuschrist #JesusIsLord #GiveItToGod
